USD PRE-Moot:
Arbitrator Registration

Thank You to All the Brilliant Legal and Business Minds That Help Us Prepare

Welcome Arbitrators!

On behalf of the USD School of Law and the Vis International Commercial Arbitration (VICAM) Team, thank you for your interest in serving as a judge/arbitrator for our upcoming 2020 Michael Thorsnes Vis Moot Competition.   In the past, our competition has included teams from:
  1. Switzerland,
  2. Finland,
  3. Japan,
  4. Russia,
  5. Mexico, and
  6. the United States, including Stanford, BYU, Washington State, Pepperdine, Arizona State, and more.

As a practicing attorney and/or respected businessperson, you are undoubtedly aware that these types of competitions provide future lawyers with the practice and experience needed to develop effective oral advocacy skills.

We need approximately 110 arbitrators in order to host this competition.  Your service as an arbitrator will be greatly appreciated.

The competition schedule is listed below:

You will receive a confirmation email from [email protected] with your confirmed time.  You will also receive a copy of the problem and the bench brief in January to help you prepare.  A reminder and a confirmation email will be sent one week prior to the competition.

On the day of the arguments, arbitrators need to arrive half an hour prior to the round(s) you will judge. The times indicated at the right include this half-hour.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided and a brief arbitrator meeting will be held prior to oral arguments to review the process and the problem.  Each arbitrator will sit on a three arbitrator panel and hear two rounds of oral arguments.
